Azure Power launches 2MW Indian solar power plant

The first privately operated, utility scale, solar power plant in India has been launched in Awan, (Punjab). The 2MW photovoltaic (PV) project was built, owned and operated by Azure Power, a US-owned independent power producer (IPP), and is the first privately operated megawatt-scale solar power plant in India. The US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) provided loan to finance the project.

Listed solar technology company GT Solar International sees revenues rise on previous quarter

GT Solar International, Inc., a provider of specialised equipment and technology to the solar power industry, saw a rise in revenues for the first fiscal quarter totaling $71.8m, compared with $57.1m in the first quarter of fiscal year 2009.
